Gordian reinforces position in service logistics market
Until mid-2008 Gordian was mainly active in the markets of Defence and Railinfra. After recent projects at the companies KLM, Avio-Diepen, Nedtrain, Océ and Damen, Gordian has broadened its activities in the direction of Aerospace, Maritime business, and the Copier business. See also the overview of new projects.

Two new professionals hired
Since 1 March 2009 Gordian is strengthened by Itamar Veneman en Marcel Prakken. As an experienced Black Belt, Itamar will further develop the Operational Excellence programs and put them into the market. Our new young talent Marcel will strengthen the quantitative and modelling part of Gordian.

Gordian takes up result obligations
Recently, Gordian has been evaluated by her customers. The result is excellent: an 8! However, improvements are necessary. The customers encourage us to take up concrete result obligations. We took quick action to this demand by developing a template and use the result obligation in new contracts.

A lot of new thorough projects
Continuation of the pilot Chinook on weapon system Leopard
After the success of the "pilot Chinook", a new pilot is started at the Royal Netherlands Army. Subject of the new project is the weapon system Leopard 2. The essence of this pilot is to study whether there exists a concrete relation between customer requirements (operational availability) and the required costs for the supplier. Furthermore, we examine the possibilities of optimizing the supply chain.

Gordian supports development of service organization Damen Shipyards
Gordian supports Damen Shipyards in Gorinchem with the development of the service organization. After a service scan, Gordian supports Damen in the following areas: vision and strategy development, planning and management control, service development (maintenance and logistics), and process optimization. The goal of this project is global full service support for Damen customers with a high delivery performance and differentiated service levels.

Nedtrain decreases service part stock levels
In order to remain competitive in the long run, Nedtrain must reduce costs on a structural basis. Together with Gordian, Nedtrain formulated an approach in order to reduce the stock levels structurally within a year with 15%. Gordian is responsible for the project management and a substantial part of the execution, and has committed herself to the results.

Océ starts central planning of global stock
During recession, the pressure to reduce costs and investments increases even more. Océ was one of the first companies in the Netherlands that felt the current recession, caused by the high number of customers in North-America. Central planning of global stock enables aggregation of demand, resulting in decreased safety stock. Océ decided to implement central planning of their global stock in order to maximize efficiency.
The Global Logistics Organization (GLO) started their operations 1 December 2008. An extensive measure like this is not realized in one day. Since 1 January 2009 Gordian supports the realization of the department Global Planning & Inventory Control of Spare Parts and Expendables Venlo. One of the measures resulting from the start of the GLO-organization is the change from supplier oriented towards a machine oriented organization of spare part planners. Before the change, the planning organization managed the central stock in Venlo, North-America, and Asia. The three stocks were planned separately by different planners. In the new situation the planner is responsible for all parts of one or a few specific machines for all three central stocking points. After the realization of the change in organization, the focus will be on global stock reduction, while maintaining the current service levels above target. Gordian supports this process until the end of August.
